Interviewing Techniques

To interviewing we need to understand few rules which are needed to do interview.
1)Rule of Thirds - is when person has on 1/3 or 2/3 of recording background on left or right side.
2) Recording Interviewee

2a) Nose room
Is used to show close up face with leaving space from nose foward to the left side not to backward(behind the nose)















2b) Head Room
To remember during recording person we cannot leave too much space

space above the head also do it that much close up to do not cut the chin










2c)Hand Room is when someone try to intereact with hand which can disctuct, is named as breaking frame with moving hand into frame and out.

2d) Neutral Background - it mean to set the background which will tell about interviewee self like: for Builder - Bricks or for Librarian - Books or set completly neutral background like black curtain or do interview next to white wall.

3)Formal nad Informal - Interviews can be do with formal language or infomal its depend on interviewing person.


4)A Two shot is a type of shot employed in the film industry in which the frame encompasses a view of two people (the subjects). The subjects do not have to be next to each other, and there are many common two-shots which have one subject in the foreground and the other subject in the background.

5)Noddy - Noddy shots or noddies are a type of camera shot used in recorded news or current affairs interviews. The noddies consist of nods and other similar "listening gestures" made by the interviewer. ...

6)Over should shot - is when filmed object is recording right from behind other object (person) over his/her shoulder, from medium, short distance to catch both people on film.

Establishing Shot

In film and television, an establishing shot sets up, or "establishes", a scene's setting and/or its participants. Typically it is a shot at the beginning (or, occasionally, end) of a scene indicating where, and sometimes when, the remainder of the scene takes place.

Mostly used to remove unwated part of inteview, landscape or any other 'disaster' cought by camera during recording or just for showing something else.

Expository documentary use any kind of intereaction of narrator, like voice over and giving comments or/and views of audience. The voice over in most documentaries sounds like god's speak and try explain what we see and make it more clearly.

'I Swear I can't Help it' is really good example of expository documentary which used many filming techniques like Voice over, mid-shots, moving camera and establish camera, also establishing shot. all of those techniques have to easier explain and make it more clear for audience the story about people with Tourrete Syndrom which I could say push them to tick react which can be appear as strange noises, unnormal moving. In this documentary we will gain some information about their experiences and feeling accompanied with them like shame or angry also sad and lonely.

In this documentary is presented in when our comentator by using voice over is clearly describing step by step everysingle situation, feelings, for each character who take part in documentary to avoid confusing people which are suppose to watch it, that how presenter shows his Argumentative logic by giving clear describe to each scene.
The structure of his arguments are clearly to understand.
